Wamsutta Towels Were A Much Loved Brand That's Now ObsoleteWamsutta towels are luxurious, thick, absorbent towels that were once in famous hotels because of their spa-like design and quality. They were also available in fine department stores and online in various styles and sizes, and their cost was very reasonable, considering the value of the towel. They usually sold for less than other high-end brands. One of the most famous Wamsutta towels was the Hotel line that may still be in use by many businesses and those who purchased the towels for their homes. These items were very durable and lasted a long time according to those who have owned and used them for years. Wamsutta towels are made by Springs Industries, a company that also makes Springmaid and other Springs Global brands. Pure Brazilian cotton towels were produced under the Wamsutta name. The Wamsutta line is currently focusing on sheets and has phased out all types of towels. This is also true for Springs Global’s Springmaid and other brands. Bed linens and sheets are produced by the Springs Global affiliates, however. To find Wamsutta towels, it is necessary to look on Amazon or websites that carry vintage items. Amazon currently carries two bath sheet sizes in only two colors. There are no other matching items for those who are looking for sets of towels. This towel is well-made with thick loops that are very absorbent. It is machine washable and is made of 100% supine cotton. The size is a generous 35 inches by 70 inches. These towels are known to be very durable and to withstand wash after wash. They also produce less lint than other towels. There are some vintage Wamsutta towels that can be found on auction websites such as eBay. One of these is a vintage 1960s set with Raggedy Ann & Andy. Another available set is two sets of retro bath towels that are new. It may also be possible to find Wamsutta towels in clearance bins at discount stores or department stores, but they are no longer listed online at the Wamsutta website, or at department stores and specialty websites that sell towels. Wamsutta brand towels were featured in the HGTV Dream Home in 2009 because of their luxurious look. The Hotel line featured a bath towel that of 30 inches by 58 inches, hand size that was 16 inches by 30 inches, fingertip size that was 11 inches by 18 inches, and washcloth that was 13 inches by 13 inches. There is also a bath sheet that measures 35 inches by 70 inches. The tub mat was 22 inches by 36 inches. Wamsutta towels can be found for institutions and commercial businesses, such as hotels and motels, beauty salons, day spas, fitness centers, bed & breakfast sites, gyms, hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes. They are sold in bulk under the brand name of Centennial Towels by Wamsutta. It is possible to buy packages of six bath towels in a variety of solid colors, including white, aquamist, berry, colonial blue, deep fern, indigo, violet, ultra marine, terracotta, sunlight, kiwi, and invory. The towels are made of 50 percent Egyptian and 50 percent ringspun cotton. The size of the bath towel is 27 inches by 54 inches. Hand towels are also sold in groups of six. The size of these is 27 inches by 54 inches for all colors except white. White towels are 16 inches by 30 inches. The colors that are made are the same as those for the bath size. Wash cloths to match are sold in sets of twelve as well in the same colors. The Centennial brand by Wamsutta is also very difficult to find online, but it may be available through vendors who have access to a variety of products that are not listed online. |
